Family Time
New! Movin’ & Groovin’ is a romping, rolling, stretching good time for the whole family. This ten-lesson unit of Family Time will explore lots of different ways to move—high and low, fast and slow, zigzag, curvy, and more. Family members will chug around the classroom like trains, clip-clop like horses, and roll over like puppy dogs. They’ll hear a story about playing tag together in Can You Catch Me?, and read about a jungle hokey-pokey in Put Your Left Paw In. Show your best groovin’ moves—it’s time for Movin’ & Groovin’.
At Home Materials
Bring the learning experience home with Sing, Play & Grow! A family guide to musical fun—a book full of activities and information about child development, as well as fun facts about the songs enjoyed in class; Jellybean band puppets: Introducing Rascal the monkey! (hand puppet and finger puppet); 2 monkey den-den drums; 2 Jellybean Band books Can You Catch Me? and Put Your Left Paw In,
with activity pages, comic strips about the band, and stories.
Family Time for children infant through 7 years. One or two children, one or two parents. Annual Family Registration Fee $25.00, Materials Fee $75.00, Tuition Fee first child $110.00, additional child $50.00.
You'll play instruments together, dance together, share, and take turns, and see how music can bring you closer as a family in a one-room schoolhouse approach to music. With older children ready to show the little ones how it's done and the younger ones eager to learn, Family Time becomes a multi-layered learning environment. Each week, a Kindermusik Educator will introduce basic musical concepts and then give you the instruments, and the structured free time to put those concepts into play.
Your children will listen to instruments and to each other, learn from their peers and older children, and enjoy music and movement with hoops, scarves and tumble-around play. Story time and family jams, puppet play and happy singing—all the Family Time activities encourage discovery and exploration and foster sharing and social skills too. In this special place for musical, social and emotional learning, your children will strengthen their ties with each other and with you—and they'll start developing the skills they'll need in school and on the neighborhood playground.

The Kindermusik® curriculum teaches an integrated, whole child approach to music education focusing on process rather than performance. It is a unique program of music learning and enjoyment that nurtures the total development of the young child. An integral part of each child’s experience is the focus on family interaction during class and the encouragement to continue the learning experience during the week, at home, so that music becomes a natural and important part of family life. Kindermusik® of Clayton believes the parent to be the ultimate teacher and provides appropriate instruction and guidance for the parent to be successful in a musical environment. Kindermusik® of Clayton will provide each participant quality instruments and materials that are recommended by Kindermusik® International as a part of the Kindermusik® requirement.
